Clever
Clever is a dynamic R&B band based in Southern California. It is comprised of some of the hottest musicians in the region, each with extensive credits in their own right. Clever is different than most bands in their approach to performances. They look for songs that are difficult to perform, but also put their own stamp on the song and take it to another level. Songs that have long been known as perennial favorites that no other band can or will perform often find their way onto Clever's set list; along with many of the classic hits from the funk, R&B, and rock repertoires. This vitality and versatility puts Clever in the position of being able to please just about everyone in the crowd with a song they enjoy, and do it with style, intensity, and plenty of energy. The members of Clever have extensive experience and have performed with some of the best known names in the business. Tony Delgado (Bass) has had a vibrant career in the music industry both in front of, and behind the scenes. He is owner of Soul Access Records and has worked with many well known artists such as The Temptations, and many others. He is currently an endorsee for "Low End Bass" brand. A lifelong bass player; he is comfortable with a variety of styles, and his in the pocket grooves have made him an instant hit with many musicians: showing that he is a force to be reckoned with on bass. Darrell Diaz (Keyboards) has been playing piano since the age of 8. After graduating from Berklee College of Music in 1991, he emerged onto the professional scene with jazz legend Herbie Hancock. Since then, he has gone on to become a successful writer, producer, engineer, keyboardist, and musical director with such artists as Kenny Lattimore, Stanley Clarke, Gerald Albright, Quincy Jones, and Maxwell (with whom he received his first Platinum album, "Urban Hang Suite" and his first number-one song, "Fortunate". Aerick (Drums) hails from a famous musical family, and was born to be a musician. His uncle Eddie Kendrick was the lead singer for the legendary "Temptations". Being around "the business" provided Aerick with any number of mentors to take him under their wing to groom him for the industry. He has performed as either a vocalist and/or drummer with such artists as Howard Huntsberry, Tina Marie, Klique, Shalamar, and Troop to name just a few. John "Popp" Clark (Guitar) is a native of Los Angeles, reared from the world famous "Locke High School Band music program. Playing a variety of styles that range from Funk, Soul, Jazz, Blues and more, for more than 20 years now he's recorded and toured with groups like The Jacksons, Barry White, Jill Scott, Slave, and even LaToya Jackson (as Lead Guitarist while touring West Africa). To say that JonMykal (Lead Singer) is a stellar singer would be an understatement. He has an incredible range, and his style easily puts him on par with any of the great soul/funk/R&B singers from the past 4 decades. He has performed onstage opening for such artists as C.C. Peniston, Adina Howard, The Whispers, Maze featuring Frankie Beverly and more. Currently, he also serves as one of the "5 Tempting Men" a tribute to the legendary Motown Group - The Temptations as the voice of David Ruffin, and Dennis Edwards. Whether he's putting his own flavor on an Earth Wind & Fire favorite, or tugging listeners' heart strings with a classic ballad, JonMykal shines and exemplifies what a real singer should be.
